Reinvent the museum's logo design and branding while explore ways to incorporate the museum's mission with their new design.
The Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust is a museum located in Pan Pacific Park with the mission of remembering the history of the Holocaust and educating the public.
The custom typeface created for LAMOTH originates from a space they have present in their museum. Inspired by the Weeping Wall in Israel, this room adjacent to the main exhibitions features a wall with different sized holes, which acts as a memorial for the children who were victims of the Holocaust. The intention is to take a slip of paper, which shows a child’s photograph and write your own message, roll it, and place it in a hole. The holes vary in size in accordance to the child’s age. The space has so much depth, yet feels apart from the main exhibitions. The design reflects the memorial and also incorporates it within the main exhibition space and brand and achieves to bring the two physical parts of the museum together.
